Hi, I’m Adam Kootman.

My Approach to Therapy

Therapy as a Place to Slow Down and Understand Yourself

Life can become overwhelming when we find ourselves repeating the same patterns, feeling disconnected in our relationships, struggling with anxiety, or carrying experiences that haven't had the chance to be fully processed.

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in the belief that meaningful change happens when we feel understood rather than judged.

Together, we'll explore what's happening beneath the surface while building greater awareness, emotional resilience, and connection to the parts of yourself that may have been overlooked or pushed aside.

How I Work

I believe therapy is most effective when it feels like a genuine relationship.

Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, I work to understand the larger story of your life, your relationships, and the experiences that have shaped how you move through the world.

My role isn't to tell you who to be or how to live. Instead, I help create a space where you can better understand yourself, identify patterns that no longer serve you, and move toward the life and relationships you want.

Areas I Often Explore With Clients

  • Anxiety and overwhelm

  • Relationship challenges

  • Attachment patterns

  • Life transitions

  • Self-worth and identity

  • Emotional regulation

  • Neurodivergent experiences

  • Stress and burnout

Influences That Shape My Work

My work is informed by attachment-based therapy, emotionally focused therapy, and person-centered approaches.

These approaches share a common belief: healing often happens through safe relationships, emotional understanding, and developing a deeper connection with ourselves and others.

I strive to create a space where clients feel accepted, respected, and empowered to explore their experiences at their own pace.

What You Can Expect

Therapy with me is conversational, reflective, and collaborative.

Some sessions may focus on understanding long-standing patterns. Others may focus on navigating immediate challenges, strengthening relationships, or developing new ways of responding to stress.

Wherever you are in your journey, my goal is to provide a space where you feel supported in making sense of your experiences and moving toward meaningful change.
