Adam Kootman, MA

A man with glasses, a beard, and a baseball cap is smiling while holding a chicken at an outdoor petting zoo or farm. There are trees and a wooden building in the background, with other visitors visible.

Adam Kootman, MA, is a therapist-in-training offering emotionally attuned, attachment-based support. He helps individuals and couples slow things down, make sense of patterns, and move toward more secure, connected ways of living. He offers virtual sessions throughout California and in-person sessions in Santa Monica, CA. When he’s not in session, he’s usually rock-climbing, hiking, or exploring, bringing that same sense of curiosity and presence into his work.

  • I take an attachment-based, emotionally focused approach to therapy, grounded in the belief that our patterns make sense in the context of our relationships and lived experiences. My work is influenced by Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), with additional roots in psychodynamic and depth-oriented traditions.

I help clients understand the patterns they find themselves in, regulate overwhelming emotional experiences, and move toward more secure, connected ways of relating to themselves and others. My approach is collaborative, experiential, and tailored to each person, with an emphasis on insight, emotional processing, and meaningful change.
